Job DescriptionOVERVIEW The Judicial Council of California is currently recruiting for an Engineering Specialist in its Judicial Branch Capital Programs Office. The Judicial Branch Capital Program Office has responsibility for business and planning, design and construction, risk management, and quality compliance of the state’s courthouses. The Engineering Specialist will perform technical construction inspections of architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing elements during construction or modification of judicial branch building and facilities. In addition, this position will monitor other inspectors and material testing laboratories performing work on Judicial Council facilities primarily in the Bay Area region of California. Furthermore, this position will assist the Quality Manager to establish processes to ensure the permitting, commissioning, plan review, and inspection of construction projects as required by the Judicial Branch Capital Program Management Manual as well as contribute to the implementation of plan review software Bluebeam and project permitting software. This position will work in the San Francisco office. Approximately 70 percent (70%) of this position’s time will be spent in the field. Projects to be inspected will consist mostly of statewide facility modifications performed by the Facilities Management Unit (FMU). The annual budget for facility modification projects is $65 million for up to 6,000 projects per year in over 500 court facilities. QUALIFICATION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience providing support for technical facility and construction engineering; with ability to travel to job site.
