City of Goleta – RFP Available!

The City of Goleta invites interested parties to submit proposals for the Goleta Traffic Safety Study (GTSS) for the Systemic Safety Analysis Report Program (SSARP). City of Goleta – STAR Communities Workshop

Please join the City of Goleta on June 4th for a STAR Communities public workshop.  STAR Communities is a non-profit organization that works to advance a national, standardized framework to evaluate local sustainability that encompasses economic, environmental and social performance measures.
The purpose of the workshop is to utilize the City’s certification as a 3-STAR Community under the STAR Community Rating System to gain a better understanding of the STAR framework, and through facilitated exercises, analyze the City’s certification results, identify gaps and help prioritize next steps for development of a future sustainability plan. Can’t make the meeting? A presentation on the workshop and certification results will follow at the June 5th City Council meeting.

Revised Information for Special City Council Meeting – April 30th

The Agenda for the April 30, 2018 Special City Council Meeting has been posted and is available here. A special meeting of the City Council to take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018, for the purpose of conducting a site visit to the property listed below.
The site visit purpose is to:
1. Observe butterfly habitat conditions at the Ellwood North Butterfly Habitat Aggregation Site (see map attached to agenda).
2. Observe tree removals and trail closures consistent with the California Coastal Commission-issued emergency permit, dated September 26, 2017.
3. Observe tree conditions along the SCE access road on Ellwood Mesa paralleling residences on Pebble Beach Drive.
No decisions will be made and no action will be taken. 
Ellwood Mesa -Sperling Preserve Parking Lot across Hollister from Ellwood Elementary School: 7686 Hollister Avenue. Goleta, CA , 93117. Note: If you plan to attend, please wear comfortable shoes, sunscreen, bring water and a hat.

Hollister Avenue Complete Streets Corridor Project

Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend one of our Hollister Avenue Complete Streets Corridor Project workshops or completed the survey that we offered in March. We had close to 300 survey responses! Your feedback is important to us, please continue providing input. At the May 1 City Council Meeting, staff will present the three alternative design concepts for the project and receive Council’s feedback. No action will be taken by Council at this meeting.
The project team is in the process of compiling all the input and comments received from the public and stakeholders and will fine tune the alternative as feasible. In addition, they are continuing to work on a detailed traffic analysis for Hollister Avenue and surrounding streets. You can find the designs here. For more information, please visit the project page at www.goletacompletestreets.com.

Upcoming Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance Hearing at SB City Council – April 17th

The City is proposing amendments to Title 30 of the Zoning Ordinance to adopt local development regulations related to Accessory Dwelling Units and encourages public involvement.
On April 17, 2018 City Council will hold a hearing to consider adoption of amendments to the Santa Barbara Municipal Code to establish development regulations for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). This will be the first reading (introduction) prior to a second reading (adoption) at a subsequent hearing. This hearing follows the Ordinance Committee’s meetings on February 27, 2018 and March 6, 2018 during which Committee members made a motion to forward their recommendation to City Council.

We encourage you to stay informed and attend the public hearing. The ADU webpage includes information about this work effort at SantaBarbaraCA.gov/ADU. To receive updates of future meetings regarding ADUs, please subscribe for notifications by following the instructions under the “Get Involved” tab on the ADU webpage. The City Council Agenda Packet is posted online on the Thursday prior to the hearing (April 12, 2018) at SantaBarbaraCA.gov/CouncilVideos. AIASB and SBCA Meeting with County Staff – April 13th

Massoud Abolhoda, Building Official of Building and Safety and  Jeffrey Wilson, Deputy Director of Development Review will meet with members of AIASB and the Santa Barbara Contractors Association on April 13, 9am – 10.00 am at the Planning Commission Meeting Room.  The purpose of the meeting is to receive the latest updates from the County Staff.

This work effort is being conducted by the Planning Division of the Community Development Department in conjunction with Jerry Hittleman, Senior Planner, from Rincon Consultants, Inc. City of Santa Barbara – Sign Committee Call for Applicants! May 1st

In May 2017, City Council acted to re-establish the Sign Committee to a form similar to what it had been prior to 2010.  We are seeking two new Committee members: one for the design experience role and one for the business experience role.

The recruitment for Council advisory groups is underway, and applications are due May 1, 2018.
