SUMMARY:Land\, Labor\, Materials\, and Ecology
DESCRIPTION:Land\, Labor\, Materials\, and Ecology\nLandscapes that are in Service of All Life – Lecture by David Godshall in partnership with Clear Architecture \nThursday\, January 15\, 2025\n6:00 PM – 7:30 PM\nAIA Chapter House\n1 LU \nAbout the Event \n\nJoin us for a special lecture by David Godshall\, the Co-founder and Principal at TERREMOTO. TERREMOTO is dedicated to making omni-positive gardens and landscapes that are fair\, just\, and generous in their relationships to labor\, materials\, and ecology. With an internal interrogation of landscape history and practice\, the practice aims to create a constantly evolving set of metrics that will allow one to create gardens that reflect the greatness of the current moment. \nIn this lecture\, David explores how closed-loop building strategies redefine architectural practice by shifting from extraction to regeneration. He will elaborate on designing for non-hierarchical office structures and collaborative environments\, which can lead to new creative aesthetics and ethical frameworks. Ultimately\, he will stress the important relationship between people\, materials\, and ecologies to uncover the gentler forms of beauty rooted not in control\, but in reciprocity with the living world. \n\n\n\n  \nClick here to register! \n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Many Hands Make Light Work - Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:About the Event \nWhether you’re a builder\, architect\, or designer—if lighting matters to you\, this is a conversation worth being part of. \nNot every project\, new construction or renovation\, ends with the lighting it deserves. Some start with good intentions but fall short by the time the switch gets flipped. So where’s the disconnect? More importantly—what happens when it all goes right? \nJoin us for a candid conversation with experienced professionals who know what it takes to get lighting right—by working together from the start. Whether you’re planning\, building\, or retrofitting\, this panel pulls back the curtain on what makes the difference between “just good enough” and exceptional. \nReception at 5:30PM with the panel conversation starting at 6:00PM—7:30PM \nPizza and non-alcoholic refreshments will be served. \n  \n\n\nPanelists \n\nArchitect | Robert Kupiec\, AIA\nLighting Designer | Vince Tarango\, IALD\nElectrical Engineer | John Maloney\, PE\nElectrical Contractor | Garrett Powell\nSystem Integrator | Chris Wilson\nManufacturers’ Rep | Ian Clements\n\nModerator \nNorman Russell\, LC\, IES | Principal Lighting Designer\, NV5 \n  \nClick here for more information about the panelists and a full parking map. \n\n\n\n\n
