ArchitecTours

ArchitecTours is an annual celebration of architecture as presented by AIA Santa Barbara. For one day in October, members of the public tour select local projects, meet the architects and building professionals, and celebrate at a post‐tour reception. There is also an ArchitecTours App which is used the day of the event to help ticketed guest navigate to the various sites on the tour. This event gets a lot of local publicity and exposure to the public.

Design Awards Gala

AIA Santa Barbara Design Awards recognizes and honors excellence in architecture within our local built environment. The Design Awards draws attention to the extraordinary legacy of great architecture in Santa Barbara, the value of quality design to our community and all those who contribute to its creation. The AIA Santa Barbara Design Awards Gala is held annually in December. At this event we announce the recipients of the design awards.

Additional Benefit: Capital sponsors may have the opportunity to present the awards to recipients.

Design Awards Exhibition

The AIA Santa Barbara Design Awards program recognizes design excellence in architecture, residential architecture, restoration/renovation, and urban design. Criteria to be used by the jury include quality of design, resolution of the program idea, sustainable responsibility, innovation, thoughtfulness, and technique.

All submissions are exhibited at Channing Peake Gallery in Santa Barbara and Betteravia Gallery in Santa Maria, for a few months after the awards are announced.

General Meeting

General meetings are dinner gatherings where members and guests have an opportunity to socialize and discuss chapter business. Presentations at the event include the state of chapter business by the AIA president and an invited speaker to address issues relevant to the architectural community.

Presentations are made by affiliate members of the AIA, generally describing products and services they offer for the built environment. We typically host one Lunchtime Learning per month, often more.
