Architects join together to help solve Montecito’s rebuilding issues

Volunteer architects are helping Santa Barbara County and Montecito planners as they deal with hundreds of damaged and destroyed homes in the January 9 disaster zone.
30 met today after touring the area last week.
Some had been there before. Some saw new areas and were stunned by the type of damage that was far beyond a normal flood zone.
Veteran architect Brian Cearnal says working with the soon-to-be finished FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) maps will be a factor to the solutions.
He both walked and drove through several neighborhoods and said “it’s staggering. The force is incomprehensible.”
