Call for Nominations - AIA SB 2023 Board of Directors

The AIA Santa Barbara Nominating Committee is pleased to request self-nominations for various 2023 leadership positions with the chapter.

We are accepting nominations for the following positions:

  • Board Director (one year term) 
  • Secretary (one year term)
  • Treasurer (one year term)

Positions are open to all AIA Architect and Associate members in good standing. Affiliate members in good standing are also eligible to serve as a Board Director. 

If you would like to nominate yourself, please provide a brief letter of interest that includes the following information:

  • Position of interest
  • Committees of interest 
  • Strengths you would bring to the Board
  • Goals for the Chapter you would like to assist with

The information you provide may be shared with chapter members as part of the voting process. Nominations should be sent to the AIA SB Executive Director Tara Rizzi (tararizzi@aiasb.com) and shall be received no later than Friday, October 21. Please reach out to Tara with any questions.

Board Director (one year term)

All Architect, Associate and Allied members in good standing are eligible to serve as a Director.

As a Director you are one of a team charged with helping to develop guidelines and priorities for the chapter. In addition, Directors provide fiscal oversight of the chapter’s finances. Directors are expected to:

  • Attend all monthly board meetings (11:45-1:00pm, first Wednesday of each month)
  • Attend all major chapter events including 4 general meetings
  • Serve on a minimum of one committee
  • Assist with outreach and fundraising
  • Engage members around key priorities as set by the Board of Directors

Secretary (one year term)

All Architect and Associate members in good standing are eligible to serve as Secretary.

The Secretary serves as the recording and corresponding secretary of the Chapter and the Board of Directors. The Secretary attends all monthly board and executive committee meetings to keep minutes of the proceedings. Additionally, the Secretary is also called upon to sign documents, certificates, or other official instruments of the chapter.

It is customary, although not required, for the secretary to continue on as treasurer, vice president, and president of the chapter.

Treasurer (one year term)

All Architect and Associate members in good standing are eligible to serve as Treasurer.

The Treasurer, in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Bookkeeper, provides general supervision of the financial affairs, records and books of account of the chapter. The Treasurer attends all monty board and executive committee meetings to provide a summary of the monthly financial reports. Additionally, the Treasurer is also called upon to draft the annual budget, assist the sponsorship committee, and provide budgetary guidance for all chapter activities. 

It is customary, although not required, for the treasurer to continue on as vice president and president of the chapter.
