ADA Seminar with Mike Gibbens, The Access Guy

THE SEMINAR – In an alteration project, virtually every building department In California enforces the same CBC disabled accessibility requirements differ from one another. It is also common for officials in the same department to disagree on the basic requirements. This seminar displays and discusses the definitive black-letter requirements in both the CBC and ADA for the specific area of alteration and the specific path-of-travel obligations that may or may not be triggered for that particular alteration. Attendees will learn the basic requirements and considerations for compliance in alterations, additions, ADA barrier removal projects and modifications to historic structures. The discussion will include disproportionality, ENR cost valuation threshold, unreasonable hardship, technical infeasibility, safe harbor, landlord/tenant obligations, and the most common misconceptions and errors in the application in the industry.
