Intro to Higher Performance Building on the Central Coast

Jump into higher performance building with this introductory course addressing easy ways to design and build for safety, health and cost savings. We will review residential, multifamily and small commercial construction systems, emphasizing both design considerations and implementation in the field. Emphasis will be on the Central Coast and similar climates.
Learning Objectives:
o Understand air tightness, ventilation, and performance metrics
o Build awareness of thermal bridging and insulation to improve efficiency
o Be able to differentiate window specifications for daylighting and energy
performance
o Learn how to incorporate Zero Net Energy strategies through use of heat pumps
and other all-electric systems.
