Lunchtime Learning: City of Santa Barbara Objective Design and Development
April 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
1 LU
Presented by Rosie Dyste, Project Planner
The City of Santa Barbara’s draft ODDS (objective design and development standards) is in response to the CA state mandate to define ODS (objective design standards) intended to streamline multi-family housing project approvals.
The ODDS approach by the City goes beyond ODS by including development standards in addition to design standards. The draft is a multi layered form based code that prescribes detailed standards for multi-family housing development. It also includes an Architectural styles map which delineates where Mediterranean, Craftsman and Contemporary styles would be allowed.
City planning staff including Rosie Dyste will provide an overview of the proposed ordinance for AIASB chapter members. The purpose is to educate about the ODDS initiative, provide an opportunity for questions to be answered, as well as provide input and feedback to City staff. Once adopted, these standards may be more broadly utilized in response to changing State laws, warranting AIASB’s careful attention.
